An alphabetical index of researchers with whom the Dept. corresponded. Cards contain names, addresses, occasional phone numbers, topics of research and the file location of the correspondence. After a certain number of years, cards for inactive correspondencts were removed from the correspondence file and placed in the retired file. The index was compiled and maintained by department secretaries.
